Samsung introduces the Galaxy Book3 with the goal of expanding the goals on computers

Samsung just unveiled the Galaxy Book3 at its event unpacked and as we expected, the manufacturer increases the lead in its range of personal computers both in the number of versions and in functions, a slight modification of the design and universality of use, since it also includes convertibles.

To begin with, state the obvious. The PC catalog from Samsung is not as wide or as well-known as that of smartphones or TVs, but what it markets is of a very good standard and it is another alternative to what comes from the giants of the sector. The renewal of this series confirms this with a very careful design; thinner and lighter than the previous generation; coverage of different screen sizes; in portable and convertible formats; internal hardware updated with the latest Intel processors; some with dedicated graphics from NVIDIA; plenty of memory and storage capacity and the latest standards in connectivity. Let’s check the features of the models that make up the series:

Galaxy Book 3 Ultra

It’s the first time Samsung is launching a laptop with the “Ultra” moniker it already uses on its smartphones to define its top-of-the-line model. And this opportunity deserves it as a pioneer of its offerings in computers. Attaches the screen 16 inches the diagonal used by more and more manufacturers, sa Dynamic AMOLED panel High resolution (2880 x 1800 pixels) with an aspect ratio of 16:10, a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a maximum brightness of 500 nits.

Samsung chose the latest Intel processors, Raptor Lake Mobile Gen13, with the option of installing Core i7 or Core i5 as the hardware engine. After improving the graphics part, we see another high-level component, the NVIDIA RTX 4070 or RTX 4050 dedicated graphics, which will allow you to play at a very good level and generally handle any use of the computer. Rounding out the main specs, it offers up to 32GB of RAM and an M.2 PCIe Gen4 SSD up to 1TB, with a second blank slot for users who want to expand.

Its premium metal chassis is as light as it is thin at 13mm and 1.6kg, which isn’t bad for its screen size. Its sound system is powered by four signature AKG speakers and Dolby Atmos support. It offers Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.1, HDMI output, SD memory card reader, 1080p webcam, a good number of USB ports, two Thunderbolt 4 and a 76 Wh battery.

Galaxy Book3 Pro 14 and Galaxy Book3 Pro 16

The ‘Pro’ versions are not as far removed from the ‘Ultra’ version as we would expect from then they also mount Dynamic AMOLED screens with a native resolution of 2,880 x 1,800 pixels, an aspect ratio of 16:10, 500 nits and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The difference between the models is given by the screen size, s Diagonal 14 and 16 inches.

Like the Ultra model, they are powered Raptor Lake Mobile processors and have LPDDR5 RAM memory capacity from 8 to 32 GB. A dedicated graphics option is not available for these models and the solution is through the integrated Intel Iris Xe. The storage capacity ranges from 256 GB to 1 TB, always with an M.2 PCIe Gen4 SSD.

Another difference between the two models is (obviously). weight, both very low, 1.17 kg and 1.56 kg respectively. Also batteries with 63 and 76 Wh. The connectivity section is virtually the same, with Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.1, HDMI output, SD card reader, 1080p webcam, two USB ports (Thunderbolt 4) and an AKG-tuned four-speaker audio system.

Galaxy Book3 Pro 360

We were expecting a convertible model and it arrived with that too oversized version because it includes a 16-inch dynamic AMOLED multi-touch display with the same characteristics as the Ultra model, a resolution of 2880 x 1800 pixels, an aspect ratio of 16:10, a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a maximum brightness of 500 nits.

You will recognize the difference compared to previous models. The ‘360’ drives a 360 degree hinge system which allow them to place it on the keyboard and prefer different modes of use, tablet, laptop or intermediary for presentations or using the stylus to draw or take notes, since the manufacturer includes a pressure-sensitive S-Pen.

The rest of the specifications are the same as the Pro models, with Raptor Lake Mobile processors, integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics, LPDDR5 RAM capacities from 8 to 32 GB and storage capacities from 256 GB to 1 TB, always with an M.2 PCIe Gen4 SSD.

In the connectivity section, they have Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.1, HDMI output, SD memory card reader, 1080p webcam, two USB ports (Thunderbolt 4) and an audio system tuned by AKG with four speakers. Its battery is 76 Wh with a 65W USB-C adapter.

To say that Samsung will also be on the market Galaxy Book 3 360 (without the Pro), convertibles with 13- or 15-inch screens, which will be significantly cheaper, but with the same hardware base.
