The day has finally arrived. After months of waiting and leaks, Samsung officially introduced the Samsung Galaxy S23the new generation of its high-end smartphones, with which the Korean technology company remains for many the main benchmark for high-end Android and, by extension, the main rival of Apple’s iPhones.

This is a confrontation in which the users, or more precisely, the users who are willing to make more than a significant financial outlay to get the top of the offer, are undoubtedly the winners. The most ardent fans of both brands will argue that “theirs” is much better than “the other”, but beyond these extreme positions, the truth is that both technology companies try to do their best with each generation.

In these times The main battleground seems to have been the photography and video recording functions, to such an extent that in Unpacked 2023, which lasted an hour, roughly half of the event was devoted to glossing over the merits of the Samsung Galaxy S23 in this regard, presenting some of the technical specifications of the mobile phones It was resolved in a few seconds. A matter of priorities, no doubt.

Be that as it may, the new generation is already here, so let’s see what it has to offer. Of course, unlike what we saw in the event, Let’s start with the technical specifications of the new Samsung Galaxy S23, S23+ and S23 Ultra.

Samsung Galaxy S23: models, specifications and prices

Samsung Galaxy S23 and S23+

Let’s start with the S23 and S23+, which, as you can see in the specifications, have more similarities than divergences. The two most important differences are the size of their screens, 6.1 and 6.6 inches respectively, but with similar resolution and characteristics and capacity of their batteries. And, of course, its dimensions too, and yes, one less option in terms of storage capacity. Now we will see these options.

As for the screens, 6.1 and 6.6 inches, in both cases they are made for Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel which provides a Full HD+ resolution (2340 x 1080 pixels with 21:9 aspect ratio) and dynamic refresh rate that can go from 48 to 120 hertz. In addition, as we told you a few days ago, they are protected by a new generation of Corning protectors, Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

Inside, and as we also told you at the time, this new generation is powered by a custom variant of Qualcomm’s top-of-the-line SoC, the so-called Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy. Differences with respect to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 driving the other devices are yet to be seen, but both Samsung and Qualcomm have said they “do exist”. We can find it in both models 8 gigabytes of RAM and 128 or 256 in the Samsung Galaxy S23, which becomes 256 or 512 gigabytes in the S23+.

As far as connectivity is concerned, neither more nor less than what can be expected from the top line, i.e. the latest generation in all possible respects. So if we get our hands on any of them, we will 5G, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3, to which we will add NFC and positioning, as well as UWB (Ultra WideBand) in the Galaxy S23+. For charging, data connection and headphone connection we find, how could it be otherwise, a USB-C connector.

In the photography section, we found no difference between the two models. Its main chamber consists of three elements, a 50-megapixel wide-angle (FOV 85Ëš) f/1.8, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle (FOV 120Ëš) f/2.2 and a 10-megapixel telephoto lens with 3x zoom (FOV 36Ëš) with an aperture of 2.4. As for the front, which we find in the perforation in the upper center of the screen, we find an angle (FOV 80Ëš) of 12 megapixels with a number of f / 2.2.

Another big difference between the two devices, as I already hinted at, is in their batteries. The Samsung Galaxy S23 has one of the 3,900 milliamps with 25W fast charging. The S23+ jumps to 4,700 milliamps and in this case, Samsung recommends a fast charger 45 watts.

Samsung Galaxy S23 and Samsung Galaxy S23 it will arrive in Spain in four configurations (two for the S23 and another two for the S23+) and can already be reserved on the Samsung website, here are their prices depending on the model and storage capacity:

  • Galaxy S23 5G 128GB: 959 euros.
  • Galaxy S23 5G 256 GB: 1,019 euros.
  • Galaxy S23+ 5G 256 GB: 1,209 euros.
  • Galaxy S23+ 5G 512 GB: 1,329 euros.

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra

Now we go with the absolute top of the range of this new generation, the expected S23 Ultra, a phone with technical specifications that will not leave you indifferent and that will handle any task, no matter how demanding. the greatest freedom Not for nothing, even if it shares some elements (such as the SoC) with its “little” brothers, there are alsoother aspects that make it clear the reason why Ultra is above all others.

Let’s start with yours 6.8-inch screen (0.2 inches more than S23+), also with Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel but in this case yes QHD+ resolution (3080 x 1440 pixels in 21:9 resolution). It also has a dynamic refresh rate, but in this case with a wider range, which is fine from one to 120 hertz. How could it be otherwise, it is also protected from bumps, drops, scratches and more Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

Inside, as I already indicated, we find the same integrated as in its generational companions, and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy, which we look forward to in operation. It can be accompanied 8 or 12 gigabytes of RAM and 256 or 512 gigabytes or one terabyte, for those who need maximum capacity. The models available in the Spanish market are 8GB+256GB, 12GB+512GB and 12GB+1TB.

When analyzing the connectivity options of this Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra that we will have, we did not find any differences 5G, WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3, NFC and UWB (Ultra Wide Band). For anything that requires a cable, we’ve got the unspeakable USB-C port that’s worth the rip as well as the tear, with excellent results in all cases. It’s not at all surprising that the entire industry (except Apple, of course) has adopted it as a standard.

Samsung Galaxy S23: models, specifications and prices

Now we come to the photography section, in which the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra again stands out from its generational colleagues. Its main camera consists of four lenses, among which it stands out the long-awaited debut of the ISOCELL HP2, a sensor that can reach 200 megapixels, although it will shoot at 12 megapixels by default (this is something we can adjust to our preferences). It is complemented by a wide-angle lens (FOV 85Ëš) with a number of f/1.7. The other three elements are a 12-megapixel f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle lens (FOV 120Ëš) and two 12-megapixel telephoto lenses with optical zoom, one 3x (FOV 36Ëš) f/2.4 and the other 10x (FOV 11Ëš), yes, somewhat less bright because it has an f/4.9 number. The overview of its cameras is completed by the front, angular (FOV 80Ëš) 12 megapixels with a number of f / 2.2.

As you can imagine, such a beast must have a good appetite, which is why Samsung decided to fit a generous battery 5,000 milliamps with 45-watt fast charging and wireless charging by induction of 15 watts. According to Samsung, a 65% charge can be achieved in about 30 minutes using a 45-watt adapter and a 5-amp USB-C cable.

Like its generation companions, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra can now be reserved on Samsung’s website. These are the prices of the models that will hit the Spanish market:

  • Galaxy S23 Ultra 5G 8GB/256GB: 1,409 euros.
  • Galaxy S23 Ultra 5G 12GB/512GB: 1,589 euros.
  • Galaxy S23 Ultra 5G 12GB/1TB: 1,829 euros.
