The Republic of China Air Force will receive a modern simulator for F-16 Block 70 warplanes. The US Department of Defense said that the tender was awarded to CAE USA from Texas. The United States signed a fixed-price hybrid contract with him for $49.7 million. The agreement was signed as Foreign Military Sales (FMS) to Taiwan.
Under the contract, CAE will provide hardware and software development, integration, testing and delivery of F-16 Block 70 trainer aircraft for the Republic of China.
The study will take place in Arlington, Texas. They plan to complete it by the end of 2026. CAE solutions for F-16 modeling start with the most accurate aeromodels integrated with all F-16 systems, weapons and sensors.
The CAE simulator offers high-quality image generators with scalable visual imaging technology, distributed learning networks, and trainer operator stations. In fact, it is a set of robust simulation systems that allow pilots to hone and refine their tactical skills while operating this multirole fighter.
The total number of F-16V aircraft in service in Taiwan will reach 208. This is with 142 F-16A/B aircraft that will be upgraded to the new configuration as part of the Phoenix Rising program. The Phoenix Rising program was scheduled to be completed by the end of 2022, but Lockheed Martin Corporation does not have time to do so due to the large number of orders.
Other countries are also interested in similar training centers. Elbit Systems has received contracts worth US$180 million and US$36 million, respectively, to supply F-16 training centers for the Israel Defense Forces and Polish Air Force’s F-16 squadrons. Source
