During the closed visit of the US Secretary of State and the head of the Pentagon to Kiev on Sunday, the US announced new military aid to Ukraine, the Associated Press reported. The visit of the authorities was closed for security reasons and was not reflected in the press. The American news agency cites its own sources.

During a high-level visit by US officials to the Ukrainian capital since Russia’s large-scale invasion in late February, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin announced $713 million in foreign military funding for Ukraine and its 15 allies and partners.

It was recorded that approximately 322 million dollars were provided for Kyiv. The rest will be distributed among NATO members and other countries that have provided Ukraine with key military posts since the beginning of Russia’s open aggression, US officials said. This funding from the United States differs from previous military aid to Ukraine.

This is not a weapons and equipment donation from the US Department of Defense, but funds that countries can use to purchase supplies they may need. The new money, along with $165 million in sales of non-US and Soviet-compliant weapons, brings the total US military aid to Ukraine since a large-scale invasion by Russian invaders to $3.7 billion, according to officials.

The United States recently invited more than 40 allies to a meeting on the rearmament of Ukraine. The meeting will be held at Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany. Source
