A team of Silverwing engineering students from the Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) has unveiled a full-scale prototype of the S1 eVTOL powered single-seat aircraft.
The Personal S1 is a twin-engine vertical take-off and tail-landing aircraft. The large rear wing has two propellers in a protective enclosure, and the small wings at the front provide in-flight stability and control over the aircraft.
The flight range of the S1 with a full battery charge will be 60 kilometers. In horizontal flight mode, the device will be able to develop speeds of up to 120 km/h. Trials of reduced versions of the S1 have already been completed and considered successful.
“We are very proud that we were able to build a real plane in such a short time. It was great to see the plane make its first test flights.”– said Silverwing team manager James Murdza.
