One of the features introduced in the Google search engine is to present to users some podcast episodes registered in the Google Podcast service as part of the results generated by some queries. However, this feature has been replaced and a full directory of related programs will be displayed instead.

According to Google’s official support page, this feature will work similarly to the previous version, albeit with notable differences. Users will have to specifically search for the type of podcast, and instead of showing individual episodes of different programs, a directory divided by categories will be presented in the style of Spotify, Deezer or other broadcast services for that content.

Google’s publication indicates that if people want more specific results, they can use any of the additional tabs or categories presented in the directory. These filters will be applied automatically to help you find the content that users are looking for.

The presentation of content in the podcast format is like a gallery, in which you can find programs with their covers, organized into categories such as “Popular”, “Series”, “Politics”, “History”, among others, which can be explored. By clicking the “More Shows” button at the bottom of the screen.

Broader categories can be viewed by scrolling down the menu, and to see more about a specific category, you’ll need to scroll to the left of each app on the screen.

Once a user selects a show they want to listen to, they can click on its card to open up specific details about the show, including a description of the show, as well as a list of the latest episodes released and available to listen to. To listen to a specific episode, just click or tap on one to start playback.

In addition, if they are available on other platforms, Google will place special shortcut buttons on each of them to find their profiles. At the top of the description, users will also be able to find a link to each program’s official website.

Google Podcast Recommendations

The Google search engine will also show suggestions for podcasts that the user might like, although this will require the person to regularly listen to the content, as the recommendations will be based on current listener trends, in addition. Everyone’s personal taste.

If people want to receive more personalized suggestions, it is recommended that they conduct searches and listening sessions after signing in to their Google account, as they will be affected by each of their search behavior.

Past searches, browsing history, past podcasts and preferences will be part of the considerations the system will take into account to make more suggestions. If people do not want to receive personalized recommendations, they can be turned off.

At the moment, this feature is only available to users in the United States, although Google has not ruled out that it will be available in other countries or regions in the future.
