Was very, very pleasant surprise, proof of these Newskill Seth, which have been on the market for some time. Although it depends on the seasons (something I understand happens to everyone), I usually listen to music for many hours during the day. I don’t consider myself a great expert or a sound connoisseur, but I know what I like about headphones and that, unfortunately, as is the case with practically everything good in life, said tastes and preferences usually meet. only for models that do not fall below 300 euros, except for some specific and exceptional offers.

The key, of course, is inon sound qualitybut design also counts (both for its ergonomics and its visual appeal), materials used, their applicability (especially for wireless models)… in short, there are quite a few aspects to consider when evaluating (and thus choosing) a device that in many cases will spend hours and hours all day packing your ear and offer in exchange what you want to hear.

I’m talking mainly from a musical perspective, of course, but there’s another type of activity where headphones like these Newskill Seths play a vital role: gaming. Whether it’s to enjoy the soundtrack of games, to receive important information about the development of the game through its sound effects, or to be able to communicate by voice with the people you play with (whether they are teammates or rivals). a headset with a microphone is an essential part of the gaming experience as we know it today.

It turns out that both types of use are not always complementaryIn other words, what we expect headphones to play isn’t necessarily what we want others to find to listen to music, and of course vice versa. So we can choose to have headphones for every use or look for an option that is at the intersection of both “worlds”, and therefore, without being the best choice in each category, they are for those who are looking for one. a very balanced solution and, moreover, much more economical. Something I found in these Newskill Seth.

It is not even necessary to take the Newskill Seth out of the box to realize that in accordance with this Spanish brand we are facing a product specially designed for gamers, an impression that is confirmed when opening the box and taking them out of it. Now, at that point comes the first surprise: their weight, and the fact that despite their size they are remarkably light, which you will undoubtedly appreciate if you plan to use them for several hours at a time.

The review of the contents of the box also leaves a good taste in the mouth, because in addition to the headphones themselves, the microphone and the pop filter/front glass, we also find a minijack to minijack cable for connecting to any device with this type of output and also with attention to detail splitter cable, which will allow us to separate the signal from the headphones and the microphone, if we connect them to a PC or other device that allows the two connections to be separated. And of course the USB connector that will allow us to use its wireless mode when we use it with a PC.

Neither the USB adapter nor the headphones have software or drivers that we need to install them in Windows to connect them, so its implementation is practically instantaneous. We only have to plug the microphone, if we want to use it, into the corresponding minijack port (characterized by the low oval outline into which the base of the microphone fits), activate them by pressing the power button and configure them in Windows. They will be up and running in less than a minute from the moment you open the box.

We didn’t find a user manual in the box, but frankly I think it would be a waste of paper because a glance at Newskill Seth is all it takes to familiarize yourself with them. Unlike other headphones that have a touch surface and therefore require documentation and training, the controls and connectors on these headphones make each function very clear from the start.

Let’s do them quickly. From left to right we have volume up, volume down, mute/enable-deactivate lighting, status LED, connection minijack, charging port (USB-C) and microphone minijack. There are only two details to keep in mind about them:

  • To turn the headphones on/off, we will have to hold the button for two seconds.
  • To turn on / off the LED lighting, we will have to hold the “mute” button for a few seconds.

These are the only “complications” that can occur when using them for the first time, but with these two bright spots, they are incredibly easy to handle.

user experience

Although, as I indicated at the beginning, at first glance it appears that we are looking at headphones specifically aimed at the world of gaming, I began to test them outside the hours that we can consider suitable to start gaming, so my first contact with Newskill Seth, once it was functional, was listening to music.

But before I come to this point, I must make it clear that I have confirmed the impression I have already commented on, viz. how light they are. But besides that, From the first moment I found them very comfortable. Circumaural headphones usually stand out for their comfort because they do not put pressure directly on the ears like supraaural headphones, but in this case I want to emphasize that the level of pressure on the head is very low, but still the level of fixation is more than sufficient even when you are on the go. After a few hours with them, after the first day of testing, I was able to confirm this feeling: its design responds very well to long periods of use. The following days of tests served to deepen this conclusion.

But hey, let’s get to the topic of quality and I have to say this at this point Newskill Seth sounds great. Due to the large size of its drivers, 50 millimeters, They respond perfectly both in bass and high tones and in the entire volume range that they can reproduce. They don’t have a noise reduction system, but their closed design really provides a great isolation from outside sound, providing a truly immersive experience, something that is highly valued especially when gaming, but also when we want to enjoy ourselves. music or that it isolates us from the outside world.

I usually use headphones “for music”, both for listening to music and for gaming, but I’ve had them for a little over a week. On the other hand, for the phone, I usually use the headphones that came with the iPhone 11 when I bought it (yes, those days when the iPhone included headphones and a charger), but at that time I bought a lightning to minijack adapter, with the intention of using wired headphones with a cell phone, so I was also able to use them with an iPhoneboth at home and when going out.

At this point I feel it is important to mention that two key aspects of Newskill Seth’s versatility can be found in the previous paragraph. Their minijack connection will allow us to use them with any device with this type of port (or with adapters like the one I mentioned earlier), which is universal in wired mode. Another important point is related to its use on the street, in the context in which The ability to disconnect both the microphone and turn off the LED lighting is appreciated. In this way, except for its size (which, on the other hand, is common with circumaural headphones), we will remain unnoticed from the outside.

Its autonomy also stood the test. While I admit to having become addicted to the LED lighting for some time now, in this analysis I had it disabled most of the time, allowing me to use it all day (from first thing in the morning to late afternoon-early evening) with a full battery charge. I always had a minijack on hand in case it was needed, but never got around to using it under these circumstances. Yes, yes, yes, both when using them with the iPhone and looking for possible differences in sound quality between wireless and wired mode, but frankly I didn’t find anything remarkable.

conclusions

Newskill always tends to stand out Great value for the price and these Newskill Seth are certainly no exception to the rule. WITH price 69.95 euros, we find wireless headphones, but also with a cable and gaming options, which, however, are also satisfactory when we use them to listen to music, which leads me to the word I used at the beginning to define them: versatility. Its design and construction offers great sound quality and an immersive experience that you will enjoy especially when playing games.

It is somewhat difficult to find headphones for this or that use in this price range that are up to the task. However, Newskill was once again able to hit the most balanced point on the board, which is normally difficult, but this technology makes it look easy.
