A large-scale network coordinated by Russia to spread anti-Ukrainian lies has been operating on the TikTok network for several months.

As Ukrinform reporter quoted, Bloomberg is writing about this issue by referring to TikTok’s statement.

“TikTok discovered a Russian disinformation network that was spreading military propaganda about Ukraine to hundreds of thousands of European users over the summer,” the article says.

It was noted that the network operates on the territory of Russia, but mainly targets people in Germany, Italy and England who speak these three languages.

“About 1,700 accounts that are part of the network have managed to spread anti-Ukrainian views by pretending to be pages created by local users,” Bloomberg wrote.

Between July and September of last year, these fake accounts attracted 133,564 followers. “It is unclear whether this network is linked to the Russian government,” the agency says.

The TikTok press service emphasized that all accounts that are part of the disinformation network have been deleted.

“The rapid detection and removal of this network and related accounts demonstrates the significant resources we dedicate to protecting our users from deception,” the social network’s press service said.

As previously reported by the agency, European Commission warns Twitter to lower disinformation standards.
