“The U.S. Federal Communications Commission has approved Amazon’s plan to deploy and operate 3,236 communications satellites in low Earth orbit, subject to certain conditions, including taking measures to avoid collisions,” the report said.
The Commission noted that granting this permission allows Kuiper to “start deploying the constellation to provide high-speed Internet connections to users around the world.”
Among other things, the state regulator also requires the company to make sure the satellites can be safely disabled within seven years.
