A pressure loss occurred in the Russian Progress MS-21 cargo spacecraft docking at the International Space Station (ISS).
This is reported by Ukrinform with reference to Radio Liberty.
On Saturday, Roskosmos claimed there were no threats to the crew on the ISS.
“Progress MS-21” should be removed from the station on February 18. It is now “isolated from the overall volume of the station”, according to the “Roscosmos” message.
According to a representative of the American air traffic control center in Houston, there was a coolant leak from the onboard thermoregulation system. Later “Roscosmos” reported this. It is not clear what caused the leak.
The incident reportedly did not prevent another Progress MS-22 cargo ship from docking with the ISS on Saturday.
The “Progress MS-21” event was the second event in recent months involving a spacecraft docked with the ISS. In December, the outer radiator circuit of the Soyuz MS-22 spacecraft was depressurized. As a result, the temperature on the ship rose sharply. It was decided not to be used to return the Russian-American crew to Earth.
The launch of the Soyuz MS-23 ship to the ISS is scheduled for February 20. It is planned that two Russian cosmonauts and an American astronaut will fly to Earth on it. It is not yet known whether the incident with “Progress” will affect the launch of “Soyuz”. “Roscosmos” says this will not affect “the ISS’ next flight schedule”.
