Microsoft Edge was the first, but it won’t be the last. The Redmond web browser already offers the new Bing’s “Co-Pilot” where it integrates “With ChatGPT” functions in a sidebar, and now It is the Opera browser that will follow in its footsteps.

This is stated by the company on its official blog, explaining that its desktop and mobile browser will offer “artificial intelligence-generated content services” and is working on further integration of this engine in other solutions.

Microsoft has been particularly quick to integrate an advanced AI model that goes beyond what ChatGPT can do. We’ve already tested both the new Bing and the new Edge with this capability, and the truth is that it’s a stunning innovation and is considered the next big revolution in search engines and browsers.

In the demo shown in the video, you can see how it is possible to enable the option. Selecting the “Shorten” button (“Shorten”) from the menu to the right of the address bar. While doing this, a sidebar with ChatGPT appears on the left side of the browser, showing a small summary of the article or website found in the browser tab for which we have enabled the option.

The engine seems to be limited to that for now, and it doesn’t look like it will be able to continue talking and interacting with this artificial intelligence engine using OpenAI technology.

One slightly shy form They assure you that they plan to integrate the power of ChatGPT into the browser, but expand the “existing artificial intelligence programs” in Opera not only in the browser, but also in “news products and video games” with their own solutions.

By the way, Google is very careful with Bard, its proprietary alternative to ChatGPT, and actually didn’t mention anything Bard’s potential integration into the Chrome browser, which also has a very high market share.
