The NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope photographed three star-forming galaxies in the constellation Volopas.
This was reported by the observatory, reported Ukrinform.
These three galaxies are heading towards a collision that will merge into an even larger galaxy, disrupting each other’s spiral structure through mutual gravitational interaction in the process.
Known to astronomers as SDSSCGB 10189, the trio is said to be a relatively rare combination of three massive star-forming galaxies located just 50,000 light-years apart.
While this may seem like a safe distance, it makes them extremely close neighbors for galaxies.
Our own galactic neighbors are much further away. Yes, Andromeda, the closest large galaxy to the Milky Way, is 2.5 million light-years from Earth.
As reported by Ukrinform, the NASA/ESA Hubble space telescope photographed the dwarf galaxy Donatiello II.
