DLSS 3.1 is now available for developers

It’s been a few months since NVIDIA presented with the GeForce RTX 40, DLSS 3 a big evolution of its intelligent scaling system based on artificial intelligence and that thanks to the news of its new graphics cards, represents a significant qualitative leap compared to its predecessorbecause it not only improves the already existing features in DLSS 2, but also adds more interesting ones like the frame generator, capable of doubling the frame rate, thus ending the CPU bottleneck problem at the same time.

Since then they haven’t stopped adding titles to the list of games compatible with DLSS 3, a few weeks ago we reviewed their present and future, which clearly shows that their industry adoption rate is very high, and therefore throughout 2023 we can expect to see how many more titles will be added, including the vast majority of the most important releases of the year, giving us compelling reasons to upgrade to the next generation or, if we want, to GeForce Now Ultimate.

Be that as it may, no matter how innovative the technology is, it begins to lose said qualification from the first time it is completed. In many industries, but especially in technology, an absolute novelty can become commonplace in a short period of time. This is why the phrase “movement is demonstrated by walking” finds its translation in the digital ecosystem in something like “evolution is demonstrated by updating”.

DLSS 3.1 is now available for developers

That’s exactly what NVIDIA did, which has just released the DLSS 3.1 SDK so developers can start implementing it into their games. And although among its novelties we find the usual bug fixes and performance improvements, in addition, there is a tremendously interesting novelty not only for developers, but also for all users who have a compatible graphics card.

I’m referring to the first item in the list of what’s new that you can see in the GitHub repository where the SDK was published, which states that “Added the ability to stay up-to-date with the latest DLSS improvements«. And what does it mean? Developers can use feature that automatically checks for new versions of DLSS and automatically installs them if so. Thus, developers will ensure that fixes and improvements are applied in an automated manner for the benefit of their users.

Except, DLSS 3.1 also represents a significant improvement in terms of flexibility, as it allows you to customize the DLSS settings based on different aspect ratios, and I find that particularly interesting depending on the game content. This way, games can take full advantage of DLSS without having to stick to predetermined aspect ratios, which is a huge boost to the creativity of game developers.
