Amazon’s subsidiary Zoox announced that self-driving vehicles are coming to public roads in California over the weekend, calling it a “major breakthrough for the robotics industry.”
As reported by Ukrinform, France24 reports this.
“This is an incredible milestone for Zoox and the autonomous vehicle industry as a whole,” said Aycha Evans, CEO of the company.
Only full-time company employees will be able to use square-shaped electric cars, which can use the robotaxi service during business hours, to travel between Zoox’s two headquarters buildings near San Francisco, about 1.61 kilometers away. .
The service was tested over the weekend and will be available to Zoox staff in the next few months.
“Being the world’s first passenger in a hands-free robotic taxi on a public road…was one of the highlights of my life. “I can’t wait for everyone to experience the magic,” said Jesse Levinson, Zoox Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer.
Other companies, such as Alphabet’s subsidiary Waymo and General Motors’ subsidiary Cruise, are testing robotaxis services in limited areas. The vehicles of these companies are still produced in a controlled manner so that the drivers can take control as a precaution.
As Ukrinform reports, the American company Amazon has received official permission from the authorities to create its own Kuiper satellite Internet network.
