The European Parliament (EP) has approved new targets for reducing CO2 emissions for new passenger cars and light commercial vehicles.

It was noted that Members of the European Parliament approved the agreement reached with the European Council on the revision of CO2 emission standards for new cars and minibuses in line with increasing climate targets, with 340 votes in favor, 279 against and 21 abstentions. EU

The legislation sets the path to zero CO2 emissions for new passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in 2035 (the target is to reduce CO2 emissions from new cars and vans by 100% for the entire EU fleet compared to 2021).

Intermediate emission reduction targets by 2030 are set at 55% for passenger cars and 50% for minibuses.

Following the final vote in the plenary session of the European Parliament, the text must also be officially approved by the European Council before it can be published in the EU Official Journal.

As reported by Ukrinform, Italian manufacturer Automobili Lamborghini has unveiled two new sports cars, Lamborghini Invencible and Lamborghini Autentica, marking the end of internal combustion engine (ICE) car production.
