The aircraft remained in the air for a total of more than 17 hours during a test flight from Edwards Air Force Base in California in December 2021.
“VISTA will help us develop and test advanced AI technologies with new unmanned vehicle designs,” said M. Christopher Cotting, Director of the US Air Force Test Pilot School.
According to him, this approach, combined with the targeted testing of new transport systems as soon as they are produced, will make it possible to quickly improve the autonomy of unmanned platforms and provide combat aircraft with tactically relevant capabilities.
Lockheed said the VISTA X-62A not only has enhanced capabilities, but can also make rapid changes to its rapid prototyping software to accelerate development and increase the number of test flights.
It was noted that VISTA X-62A is currently undergoing inspection and will then continue to fly.
