Smartphones Googlewith the system androidmay soon receive a tracking device similar to Airtagfrom apple. Recent leaks have revealed that the company is working on a competitor to Apple’s technology, also using Bluetooth signals to locate your belongings.
Apple-made equipment was launched in 2021 and helps the user in finding lost items. When attached to an item, AirTag can send BlueTooth signals to nearby devices that have iOS – via the Buscar network (application findMy) and thus the location gets to the owner. And the opponent should work on something similar.
According to technology researcher CubaVoitsekhovskymentions of the new device were found via fastPair, a technology from Google that quickly pairs devices when they first come together. There “locator tags” were found as a new category. According to Wojciechowski, this indicates a new tracker that already has a code name.
Android smartphones can get a tracking device
“sleepy” will be the “code” chosen for the project. The information indicates a device with a built-in speaker, ultra-wideband (UWB) capabilities, which is a short-range wireless communications protocol that provides directional data, and low-energy Bluetooth.
The large number of Android users – about 133.4 million in the United States alone – would pave the way for the common network needed for the tracker used by Apple as Bluetooth sent by AirTag “hops” from device to device. More devices provide a more accurate and efficient location of the lost object.
Since the rumors originated from leaks, there is still no word on when Google’s new attraction will hit the market, or even confirmation if it will actually be released. The occasional dispute with Apple is a reason that confirms that the search giant will not be left behind after the advent of AirTag, and the competition will also force them to work on security, which is critical in tracking technology.
