Swedish furniture giant IKEA has introduced a “smart” sensor to monitor indoor air pollution.

As reported by Ukrinform, this is stated in the company’s press release.

“The new VINDSTYRKA air quality sensor allows you to measure and monitor indoor pollutant levels, complementing IKEA’s existing range of smart solutions that provide better indoor air quality,” the company said.

With VINDSTYRKA, the company aims to create an affordable, high-performance air quality sensor to help customers become more aware of the quality of the air they breathe in their homes, according to company representative Henrik Thelander.

“We recognize that the air in our homes is clean, but small daily activities like cooking or cleaning can degrade air quality as much as industry or traffic,” he added.

It is stated that particulate matter (PM2.5), which is the most harmful pollutant, cannot be seen with the naked eye. VINDSTYRKA has a display that shows the level of these particles, humidity, temperature. When the sensor is connected to DIRIGERA, the smart hub for “smart” products, it allows you to read the indoor air quality level in the IKEA Home smart app.

VINDSTYRKA will be available in all IKEA markets from April 2023.

As Ukrinform reported two years ago, the World Health Organization has strengthened a set of requirements by updating air quality recommendations for the first time since 2005.
