With the new feature, Instagram users will be able to invite all their followers and share text, video and photo updates in one-to-many messaging.

Users will also be able to use voice memos and create polls.

It was noted that the function of sending messages to channels will be open only to their authors, while subscribers will only be able to respond to the content and participate in surveys.

The company also announced an increase in the possibilities of broadcast channels, in particular the addition of the function to attract another author to the channel and the function of “ask me anything” crowdsourcing questions.

The author can start the channel from their Instagram mailbox. The content of the channel will be available to all users, but only subscribers will receive update notifications.

Meta is currently testing streaming channels with several US creators, but plans to expand in the coming months. Interested authors can sign up for early access to the new feature by joining the waiting list on mobile devices.

Zuckerberg also announced that he has launched his own “Metachannel” to share news and updates about the company’s products and technologies. According to him, similar channels will come into play on Messenger and Facebook in the coming months.
