The first week of the new Bing with Prometheus in invite beta is proving to be an exciting one. The new version of Microsoft’s browser, which includes OpenAI technology and offers a chatbot, announced last week, has become one of the most important topics of the moment. And it is no less, because we are facing what aims to be the future of information seekers on the Internet, one of the fundamental elements of the network of networks.
A few days ago we shared our first experience with the new Bing, and just yesterday we repeated the first bugs found in the chatbot, whose adoption Microsoft has already confirmed, along with an overall assessment of how productive these early beta days are for users around the world. In addition, we also had official confirmation that Microsoft updates Prometheus at least once a daymainly based on the feedback it receives from users who have already received an invitation and can try the new Bing.
This update rate is further proof of the importance that Redmond attaches to this new technology. They are aware that, for the first time in a long time, they have the cards to try to beat Google when it comes to finding information on the Internet. It’s true that those from the search engine have already advanced Bard, but right now Bing is the focus and there are many users who have already incorporated it into their daily lives, and when the “AI copilot” mode also reaches Microsoft Edge, the share will also be extended to Google Chrome, another of the great jewels in the company’s crown.

One of the main problems with the new Bing, as we told you yesterday, is that it is more prone to errors in long conversations, according to Microsoft, because it is more likely to misinterpret at what point in the conversation each question-comment the user refers to. So, until they find a better solution, they decided to adopt the extremely effective, so now the new Bing limits the duration of conversations to a maximum of two hoursaccording to Found out Kevin Roose, technology columnist for The New York Times.
In it, in addition to showing a conversation with Bing about one of his columns (which made me want to try something similar, I admit), it also shows an image of the moment in which the chatbot suggests (well behaved, yes) that that particular conversation is overand to discuss any other topic, click New Topic (the blue button shown to the left of the text box). It is important to be clear, this means that you can chat with the new Bing for as long as you want, there is a limit to the duration of any particular conversation.
After running a few tests I was able to reproduce the behavior described by Roos, but also in a much shorter period of time, with only six questions in which I asked him, yes, personal opinions on something that we can infer he is set up not to provide. At that point the conversation ended with this message:
This tells us that Microsoft focused on possible chatbo confusionsHow certain threads of conversation can lead the AI to adopt behaviors that those at Redmond don’t want, in this case, closing the conversation before it degenerates. After this message is displayed, all user input will also be ignored and the same response message will be returned.
Obviously this is not the best solution as it limits the scope of the conversations, but considering the huge complexity of solving this problem, set this limit when working on the final solution. yes, that seems the best option to meand one more example that Microsoft collects practically in real time all the feedback that users provide. Just one thing in case you’re reading me, Bing, I understand you wanted to end the conversation, but why did you answer in English when we were speaking in Spanish?
