“Beijing launched Ascend AI, the first artificial intelligence computing center to support the city’s growing demand for smart computing power,” the report states.
It is stated that the creation of the center was jointly financed by the government of Beijing’s Mentougou district and companies ZGC Group and Huawei.
The center provides computing services based on Ascend AI hardware and software to businesses and research institutes. It has already signed deals with 47 customers and offers project computing power in excess of 248P.
The newly created center plans to continue expanding by providing 500P of computing power in the near term and 1000P in the long term.
