Meta Announces Monthly Payments for Verified Badges for Facebook and Instagram

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced on Sunday (19) that Facebook and Instagram will have a paid subscription system that will include an account verification badge.. The measure follows in the footsteps of Twitter, which has already announced a paid Twitter Blue plan, as well as billionaire Elon Musk. Both social networks are controlled by Meta.

A paid subscription that will give you access to the Facebook and Instagram account verification badge will cost $11.99 per month.or $14.99 when purchased through the iOS app. The initiative is aimed primarily at content creators and offers “additional impersonation protection, access to account support, and increased visibility and reach,” a Meta spokesperson said.

Good Morning and New Product Announcement: This week we are launching Meta Verified, a subscription service that allows you to verify your account with government ID, get a blue badge, additional protection against accounts impersonating you, and which allows direct access to customer support,” Zuckerberg tweeted.

The first tests will be held in Australia and New Zealand.

Initially, the paid verification service rolling out to Instagram and Facebook will not be available in all countries around the world. At this first point, only Australia and New Zealand will receive functionality, but Meta did not explain the reason for choosing these two countries to receive the first tests.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has promised to launch new products to give creators more resources to be productive and creative. Now it’s just a matter of time before the service gets community approval and other users start using the system.

According to Meta, a paid Meta Verified subscription from Facebook and Instagram will give users greater visibility in certain areas of the platform, such as search, comments, and recommendations. Unlike Twitter, the company will require users to verify their identity with a government-issued ID in order to receive proof of verification.
