Philips Evnia is the Dutch manufacturer’s premium monitor brand and has just expanded with two new models that offer the best display technology to be found in the segment. We’d better talk about its price at the end.

You know it exists at least four types of main display panels used in computer monitors. Gamers use TN panels to get maximum performance in refresh rate or response time. The problem is that its image quality is much lower than the others and the current bet is on VA, which are certainly the most balanced in terms of features/price/performance.

Leaving aside the mini-LEDs of the future and IPS used for the global market and the work segment, we are left with OLEDs, the latest and those that offer the best image quality. The latest generations have increased their performance for games and are undoubtedly the most advanced in the screen sector. And the most expensive.

A good sample comes to us from Philips with two models, 34M2C8600 and 42M2N8900who are committed to OLED panels and the most advanced display technologies.

The first mounts the curved panel z 34 inches, a resolution of 3440 x 1440 pixels in a 21:9 format, with a refresh rate of 175 Hz and a gray-to-gray response time of 0.1 ms. It must be said that it combines organic panels of 10-bit light-emitting diodes and technology Quantum dot (QD), which provides the advantage of reduced burn-in over other types of OLED panels.

The monitor supports VESA Display HDR True Black 400, has 99.3% coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut and Delta E is less than 2. Its base supports height adjustment and, in addition to HDMI and Display Port, it has USB Type-C, a USB port hub and a switch KVM For customization, the branded Ambiglow RGB lighting system is not missing.

The second model increases the size and resolution up to 42 inches and 4K. It also mounts an OLED panel, but in this case without Quantum Dot technology. Its response time is minimal at 0.1ms, and the 138Hz refresh rate with Adaptive Sync isn’t bad for 4K.

It has a maximum brightness of 450 nits, a contrast ratio of 1,500,000:1, HDR10 support and great color palette support, 99% DCI-P3 or 94% Adobe RGB, in addition to the connectivity of the previous model HDMI 2.1, Display Port 1.4, USB Type-C, hub ports and the Ambiglow lighting system.

We saved the least good for last. These Philips Evnias, without reaching the performance of dedicated gaming monitors, allow you to play at a very good level and with image quality that is believed to be excellent. But OLED panels are expensive and this translates into high selling prices, £1,149 and £1,499 for two models. They should be available on the European retail channel soon.
