The first weeks of the new Bing with Prometheus are proving to be very interesting, with news almost daily and works really intensively with Microsoft in response to the significant amount of feedback they have been receiving from people who have received beta access to the new technology jointly developed by Microsoft and OpenAI.

It is of course true that although updates are made on a daily basis, many of them do not exceed because they do not mean noticeable changes in the chatbot, although it is possible that a much deeper analysis would allow us to identify some subtle difference. However, more updates like last Friday’s are more than noticeable. In this, as we have already told you, Microsoft has put a limit on the length of conversations with Bing.

As Microsoft explained, the reason for this limitation is that some users have discovered this in long conversations Bing tended to be confused, they misinterpret some questions and sometimes give answers that do not correspond to the behavior that the company expects from its chatbot. As a result, there was a limit of five chat spins per session and a total of 50 per day.

This limit may seem high, but the truth is that the natural way of “chatting” with Bing can lead to longer conversations, as your answer may lead to one or more related questions. We understand that Microsoft decided to cut its losses with its move late last week and is now subsequently testing how far it can go in extending the length of conversations without the consequences we saw last week.

In this way, when only four days have passed since this change, Microsoft has again adjusted the maximum duration of conversations with Bingand the good news is that this time it is an upward change. As we can read on the blog of the search engine, now the conversations will have a maximum of six chat turns, and the daily limit rises to sixty. As they confirm, this increase will enable the natural use of the chatbot for a large part of its users.

However, his plans do not end there. As we can read, his short-term intention (although at the moment without data) is to increase the number of chats to ten and increase the daily limit to one hundred, which should more than cover the needs of the vast majority. However, it is expected that in the medium term, Microsoft and OpenAI will be able to solve the problems associated with long conversations, so there will be no need to set limits in this regard.
