Probably on Friday the 13th (we all remember that virus), Lei Jun and his partner in ‘Yellow Rose’ Feng Zhihong, fed up with not being able to turn on his computer, set out to fix it. And he was born from his team the first antivirus software the country knows. It was in 1990, named after his exact year of birth, and sold in small numbers.

The country has seen how computer viruses spread from computer to computer in the region every day.and the invasion stopped, at least in part, when Lei Jun and his partner entered circulation, the first antivirus ever developed on Chinese soil. ‘Immunity 90’ was born.

Lei Jun entered Wuhan University at the age of 18 and enrolled in the university’s IT department. After spending two years there, he amassed a full four years of credits during which time and got a perfect score on a parliamentary language exam. By then his future was pretty clear and He founded Yellow Rose in 1989.A software development company with partner Feng Zhihong.

Together with Zhihong, he will create his first software, BITLOK 0.99, and a year later they would create ‘Immunity 90’, the first antivirus software in the country. ‘Immunity 90’ was marketed for 260 yuan in 1990, today it will be around 100,000 yuan with inflation. Today it’s about 13.500 Euros. This made the company quite a bit of money at the time, but it also served something more important.

‘Immunity 90’ wins first prize from Hubei University in the category of scientific and technological achievements organized among its students. Lei Jun’s popularity only grew and he was invited by the Hubei State Public Security Bureau to give talks about the anti-virus technology used in ‘Immunity 90’. Yellow Rose membership continued until he joined Jinshan Company in 1992, where he stayed for 16 years.

Lei Jun was the CEO of Jinshan before his resignation. It did this with the desire to become one of the biggest mobile phone brands on the market. Lei Jun wanted to create a mobile phone and Xiaomi was born from his idea.. The rest is history.
