Chinese company DJI Technology Co Ltd, which specializes in drone manufacturing, announced that it has temporarily suspended its business in Russia and Ukraine to prevent its products from being used in combat.

This was reported by Ukrinform with reference to Reuters.

It is noted that this is the first large company from China, which after the war in Ukraine decided to stop the sale of goods in Russia.

Unlike many Western companies that left Russia to protest its invasion of Ukraine, Chinese companies remained there, in line with Beijing’s refrain from criticizing Moscow on the conflict.

A DJI spokesperson explained that the suspension of work was to demonstrate the company’s principles, not the affiliation with any particular country.

“DJI categorically does not accept the use of our drones to cause harm, and we are temporarily suspending sales in these countries to ensure that no one uses our drones in combat,” the company said in a statement.

Earlier, Ukrainian authorities and citizens accused DJI of providing information about the Armed Forces to the Russian military. The company denied these statements. But a DJI spokesperson admitted that videos have surfaced online showing the company’s drones being used by Russian troops during a special military operation. However, he stressed that there is no strong evidence for this yet. He also said that the company does not have the means to restrict the use of its products by one party or another.

As Ukrinform reported, on February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Russian troops carry out intense bombardment of residential areas of Ukrainian cities and villages using artillery, multiple rocket launchers and ballistic missiles, destroying infrastructure.

The United States, the European Union and other countries have imposed sanctions against the aggressive country, whose international isolation is increasing day by day. Many companies announced the cessation of work in Russia and their withdrawal from joint projects.
