If we repeated last week the launch of Vivaldi 5.7, a new version of the browser for PC with less new features – and less interesting – than we would like, based on what we have become accustomed to this project, we can say that with the launch it concerns us now that the new version of Vivaldi for Android has more than redeemed itself.
According to the official notification Vivaldi 5.7 for AndroidIn fact, it brings more news than the desktop version, which is not usual; but the thing is, it’s also much more attractive news, whichever way you look at it (honestly, Vivaldi for PC is full of features and it’s not that easy to surprise us): improved performance, new customization features… and the icing on the cake : reproduction of multimedia content.
Simply put, Vivaldi for Android has added an option whose name and description says it all: «Enable background audio playback: When this option is activated, the sound will continue to play in the background when you switch tabs in Vivaldi or even when you use other applications.» And although it’s not mentioned, you can add: “even if you turn off the device’s screen.”
Two things can happen at this point: one, that the mere news of reading something like this has you excited about the possibilities it offers; another, that you are a premium user of YouTube, YouTube Music or other music services. I don’t know if you understand me. If it is the first, you will find the option deactivated by default, so you already go to the application settings to activate it (it is at the beginning, no loss).
If you’re not at all intrigued by this new Vivaldi for Android, good luck. But there’s more: another new option, in this case pro block autoplay videos and will save you the trouble involved; and the performance improvement it affects faster boot browsers “even with hundreds of tabs”, just in case that’s your case, the redundancy is worth it.
Another new thing Vivaldi for Android is launching that Chromebook, tablet, and even car screen users will love is the new zoom control to resize the interface browser to best adapt to the device. This option is available in the configuration in the accessibility section.
Finally, Vivaldi 5.7 for Android “added a reminder to turn on sync if you haven’t already.” This, as you can imagine, is a browser data synchronization system with which you can enjoy your bookmarks, history, passwords and more across all your devices encrypted.
