Nokia changed its logo to avoid being associated with the phone industry

Finnish 5G equipment maker Nokia Oyj has redesigned its logo so that people don’t associate it with mobile phones, a job they left almost a decade ago.

This is stated in a Bloomberg report, Ukrinform reports.

“In most people’s minds, we’re still a successful mobile phone brand, but that’s not what Nokia is doing right now. “We want to launch a new brand that is completely different from outdated mobile phones, with a high emphasis on networks and industrial digitization,” said Pekka Lundmark, CEO of the company.

The relaunch of the brand, which Nokia announced on Sunday, is accompanied by new strategic principles. They aim to accelerate the development of the company as the world increasingly uses fifth generation (5G) mobile technologies.

According to Lundmark, Nokia will focus on providing wireless services using network equipment. He emphasized that the company now has all the means to occupy this segment of the market without harming its own profits. This was helped by restrictions placed on Chinese rival Huawei Technologies Co., after some European governments blocked the company from selling equipment for its 5G networks.

As reported, Nokia branded phones are still sold by HMD Global Oy. HMD acquired the license after Microsoft, which bought the business in 2014, stopped using the name.
