Let’s remind you that Qualcomm showed its satellite solution for bidirectional message transmission at CES 2023. Compared to the one-way satellite communication implemented in Huawei Mate 50 and iPhone 14, Snapdragon technology is more advanced and practical.
According to Qualcomm, Snapdragon Satellite uses Iridium satellite support. This technology is now built into Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and actual smartphones with this feature will be released in the second half of the year.
Qualcomm Snapdragon Satellite technology can provide direct satellite communication in emergencies when there is no network signal or Wi-Fi. This is useful in areas with weak signal as well as in wild or rural areas. According to previous tests, Snapdragon Satellite lets you send a simple text message in 3 seconds.
