Google is thinking about improving your Chrome experience, especially if you’re the type of person who has multiple tabs open on a PC. Given that the more they open, the worse their performance is, the company is working to speed up their closure so that no one has to wait long for the operation to be closed for good.

You can currently do this by pressing Ctrl+W or just the X button on a tab, but they want it to be even easier and more accessible. According to the Android Police website, the user saw evidence in Chromium Gerrit that the company only wants to double-click on a tab to close it permanently. Nothing more, nothing less than an action and that’s it, while the tab is open.

Despite confirming that this feature is being tested, the company still doesn’t have a release date for the change. It is also worth remembering that if the user has problems with a mouse that double-clicks, it can cause headaches. If it can’t be turned off somehow in the settings, of course. However, they are analyzing the idea and maybe it will appear in the next updates of their main browser.

Google is careful with its tabs

It’s worth remembering that open tabs in Google Chrome are a constant concern of the company, which has been working on several updates lately to improve its performance. Within the settings themselves, you can change the memory saver and power saver conditions by moving your computer’s power away from inactive tabs and learning how to best use battery usage for certain internal tasks.

At the time of this writing, they also have not confirmed that the feature will arrive this way, or if it exists at all. However, until the official announcement of the next features coming to Google Chrome, don’t count on it too much.
