Fujitsu introduces a data connection platform that can handle 1.2 Tbps of network bandwidth over distances of up to 6,000km without the need for signal boosters.

Fujitsu shows the 1Finity Ultra Optical System at the MWC. It consists of a T900 transponder and an L900 fiber optic system. The platform must enable fast but also cost-effective data connections over long distances. Fujitsu says the system will initially be able to handle 1.2 Tbps of bandwidth, but that will be increased to 1.6 Tbps with future upgrades.

6,000 km without a break

The transponder uses what is known as Raman amplification, which ensures that the optical signal remains pure over the entire length of the fiber optic link. For example, the new system from Fujitsu ensures that the connection continues to function over a distance of 6,000 km.

This is not only convenient, but also good for the environment. Because systems set up with the T900 require no or fewer signal amplifiers along the entire route, which in turn ensures a more economical, energy-saving and CO2-lower connection.
