NVIDIA announces RTX Video Super Resolution to improve the video experience in Chrome and Edge

NVIDIA announced the release of its new technology, RTX Video Super Resolution (VSR)which consists of artificial intelligence (AI) that handles image scaling, enables videos to be displayed on 1440p or 4K displays with greater clarity, and is available for GeForce RTX 30 and RTX 40 series graphics cards.

RTX VSR is a bit like DLSS in this relies on Tensor cores to process videos played at lower resolutions in Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge to adapt to higher resolution screens and also improve image quality. Thanks to the latest artificial intelligence image processing technology, RTX VSR is able to offer a sharp image while improving certain aspects such as edges and removing artifacts derived from compression.

With web browser support, RTX Video Super Resolution supports content from popular platforms such as YouTube, Twitch, Disney+, Hulu and Netflix. In order for users to use this technology, they just need to download the latest version of Game Ready drivers for Windows and we remember that for now available for RTX 30 and RTX 40 graphics models.

NVIDIA is once again demonstrating its mastery of artificial intelligence at the hardware and software levels to put it at the service of the user and improve the experience of the image displayed on the screen, whether it is a monitor or a television. In addition to RTX VSR, there is also DLSS 3, with which the green giant maintains its lead in upscaling and supersampling technologies.

In addition to RTX VSR, the company reveals that the latest Game Ready drivers allow for improved performance Atomic Heart at 4K by 90% using DLSS 3 and AI performance, reaching up to 184 fps under these conditions with the RTX 4090. The improvement with the RTX 4080 is up to 80% and means up to 146 fps at 4K and 62% with the RTX 4070 Ti to achieve 160 frames at 1440p.
