The ESA/NASA James Webb Space Telescope took a picture of the massive galaxy cluster RX J2129.

This was reported by the European Space Agency (ESA), as reported by Ukrinform.

It is stated that the galaxy cluster RX J2129 is located in the constellation Aquarius, about 3.2 billion light-years from our planet.

Thanks to gravitational lensing, this observation includes three different images of the same supernova galaxy.

Gravitational lensing occurs when a large enough celestial body causes space-time to bend enough to reorient light rays from the farthest background object as if they had passed through a lens.

Astronomers have discovered a supernova using NASA/ESA’s Hubble Space Telescope observations and think they have found a very distant Type Ia supernova.

These supernovas always produce a fairly constant glow – one appears brighter than the other at the same distance – making them particularly useful to astronomers.

As reported by Ukrinform, the James Webb space telescope took a detailed photograph of the Pillars of Creation in the Eagle Nebula.
