Microsoft must be celebrating the success of the new Bing in a big way. After years of being in Google’s shadow, and despite trying everything (even giving users awards) to encourage use of their search engine, their agility in using technology co-developed with OpenAI to add a chatbot to Bing has completely changed the environment for information seekers on the Internet and it allowed Microsoft to show its chest when talking about innovation.

For the first time in years, the informative focus focused on the Microsoft search engine And although Google has already announced its plans in this regard with Bard, the rapid deployment made by those in Redmond, who already sent out the first invitations to test the new Bing less than a week after its announcement, revived the image of Microsoft and achieved something unthinkable a few weeks ago: that there is a huge the number of people who want to use its search engine.

So it’s normal in Redmond they want to use the traction gained in recent weeks and attract more users to try out your chatbot, although for now you still need to get an invite to access this beta version. We don’t know if Microsoft will be handing out more invites, and if so, how many, but we can see it being immersed in the race to make the new Bing available from more places.

Last week we told you that it is already available for Android and iOS and on Skype and today, as we can read on the search engine’s official blog, Microsoft has released a Windows 11 update that brings the new Bing directly to the taskbar. In this way, all Windows 11 users who have already been invited to test Microsoft’s chatbot will be able to ask their questions directly from the desktop without having to access Bing from the search engine. The update will be available for «eligible devices running Windows 11, version 22H2«.

With this Windows 11 update, and according to the publication, the goal is to bring the experience provided by the new Bing with artificial intelligence. for more than 500 million people who use the search box every month from the Windows taskbar. And it’s a really smart move, because once the chatbot is available to everyone, even those users who haven’t shown much interest in the technology until now will be so close to it that they’ll definitely try it out eventually, even if they’re usually Google users.

They are very smart in Redmond and know that the general release of Bard will bring attention back to Google, but They currently have the advantage of being first and that their rival has not yet entered the ring. Bringing the new Bing to Windows 11, to Android, iOS, and if possible to coffee machines is a very smart way to take advantage of the temporary advantage they have at the moment. And so, if users get used to using your chatbot, there is a greater chance that they will make it their first option when searching for information on the Internet. And when Prometheus integration comes to Microsoft Edge, something we haven’t seen a response to from Chrome yet, it could be even better for Microsoft.
