Peruvian prosecutors requested on Tuesday 36 months, or 3 years, of preventive detention against the former president. Pedro Castillo and two of his ministers for allegedly running a criminal organization.

Attorney Uriel Teran filed a complaint with the Supreme Court, noting that the initiative includes Juan Silva, former Minister of Transport; and Gainer Alvarado, former head of housing development.

The Ministry of Defense attributed the former president to the leadership of a criminal organization aimed at committing various corrupt actionsincluding criminal organization crimes, conspiracy and influence peddling.

Peru’s justice system formalized the investigation last week. v. Castillo, Silva and Alvarado to learn more about the alleged criminal network led by Castillo that sought to support the Puente Tarata III consortium and other companies in public bidding processes.

Castillo is currently serving 18 months on remand.as part of an investigation into the alleged crime of insurrection, after he was arrested following the Dec. 7 announcement of the dissolution of Congress and the establishment of an emergency government.
