The Shahed-149 Gaza unmanned aerial vehicle was developed by Shahed Aviation Industries manufactured by Iran Aircraft Industry Corporation (HESA). First introduced in May 2021, the aircraft entered service with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in April 2022.
Shahed-149 outwardly resembles American military UAVs Predator and Reaper. Gaza took on a streamlined shape, with a convex front with electronic equipment. An optical module with a camera providing 360-degree vision underneath, a thermal camera, an infrared sensor and a laser range finder are also installed here.
Rectangular wings with truncated ends are located on the sides of the fuselage, and in the tail is a screw engine with a capacity of up to 750 hp. with a four-bladed propeller.
Shahed-149 is designed for reconnaissance and assault missions. It can carry up to 13 munitions during combat sorties: missiles or bombs. In addition, the drone can be equipped with electronic warfare equipment.
