An insider known by the alias ShrimpApplePro told how Apple would interfere with the operation of non-genuine accessories for the iPhone. This was reported by 9to5mac.
Media reporters cited the author’s conclusions twitter, here an insider said that with the transition of Apple smartphones to USB-C, a number of certified cables will appear. According to ShrimpApplePro, data transfer and charging speeds for the base iPhone 15 and 15 Plus and non-original cables will remain the same, but maximum performance for the high-end iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max will only be achieved when using proprietary USB-C accessories.
The author stated that the data transfer rate will remain at the level of the USB 2.0 standard when a third-party USB-C cable is connected. When connecting a cable from the Made for iPhone series, the speed will be at the level of the Thunderbolt 3 standard – up to 40 gigabits per second.
“This could mean that if we wanted to get all the features of the two Pro models, we would potentially not be able to use all available USB-C cables”, – journalists concluded from an insider’s message. The authors of the publication reminded that ShrimpApplePro may have reliable information, as it has previously accurately reported the presence of the Dynamic Island notch on new iPhone models.
