Google Chrome will soon add a feature that may seem like something very simple, but if we think about it in reality has a huge utility potential. So much so that once again I think we are facing one of those news stories that make us wonder: “How come someone didn’t think of this before?” And one more proof that despite what we usually think otherwise, in reality not everything has been invented and there is still room for many more small but powerful innovations.

Just yesterday, we told you that Google announced a good handful of new features for Android, Chrome, Wear OS and its services, and that the search engine company is working hard to improve its users’ experience. It’s true that now a large part of their engineering teams have to focus on Bard, the search engine’s answer to the new Microsoft Bing, but that doesn’t mean they can neglect the rest of their products and services, much less.

Sometimes the virtue is in simplicity And is there anything easier than a text note? So it seems that someone, perhaps after observing their own desktop, found inspiration and launched the recent and very interesting novelty of Google Chrome, text notes associated with passwords. We’ve already told you about them and how to test them (at the moment only in Chrome Canary, the development version of the browser), and it seems that Google liked the note.

so now Google Chrome Canary includes a feature for adding notes associated with web pages. At the moment it is only available in the development version of the browser and there is no indication when it will go to the final version, but after testing it seems to be quite stable and complete, so it is possible that it will not have to wait too long, time to live the jump.

If you want to try it, you can do it, but you have to fulfill two conditions. The first is that you must have version 113.0.5624.0 (or later) of Google Chrome Canary. Also, the feature is not active by default, but you can activate it by modifying the value of two flags browsers are as follows:

  • chrome://flags/#power-bookmark-backend
  • chrome://flags/ #user-notes-side-panel

Set both features to Enabled, restart your browser, and website notes will now be available. To check this, go to any web page, right-click on it, and then select “Add Note” from the context menu.

This way, a sidebar will appear on the right where you can write a new note with a maximum size of 176 characters and also review the ones you have added before. And that’s really another very interesting aspect of this feature, because you’ll be able to save as many notes as you want on each site.

We will have to wait for his jump to the final version check if notes saved on one device are accessible from others in which we use our account because it would make the notes feature much more useful. However, since it is not possible to perform this verification, the current proposal already has a really interesting aspect. If you don’t have Chrome Canary yet and want to try this feature, you can download it from its official site.
