The iconic Winamp music player for listening to compositions on computers will be revived as a new service starting March 15 this year. This was announced by the Llama Group in a press release published on Business Wire.
It is highlighted that Winamp is now a streaming service with an option to subscribe to individual artists. The service will be available to artists from March 15 and listeners around the world from April 15.
“Even though streaming platforms give artists access to a wider audience, their revenue is deplorable”, – explained Oleksandr Sabundzhan, chairman of the Llama Group. Winamp has guaranteed artists a fair reward for publishing their tracks on the platform.
Artists will be able to price subscriptions at different levels depending on the exclusive content available. Listeners will be able to support their idols by paying a Fanzone subscription and gaining access to exclusive content.
The Winamp player became iconic in the early 2000s. Twenty years later, the player has about 83 million active users.
