Mark Zuckerberg’s Reality Labs division of Meta Corporation has decided to launch two devices that will work as a single device — smart glasses with a display paired with a smartwatch. This was reported by The Verge.
On the subject of glasses, it is emphasized that the second generation Ray-Ban Stories will be released first. These are sunglasses with camera and microphone, scheduled for release at the end of 2023.
In 2025, Zuckerberg plans to launch third-generation smart glasses with viewfinder displays to view incoming messages, translate text in real time, and scan QR codes.
Control will be via a “neural interface” strip that allows the user to control the glasses using hand gestures. For example, journalists pointed their fingers at imaginary keys.
A smartwatch paired with glasses allows the user to use a virtual keyboard and type at a speed similar to typing on smartphones with an on-screen keyboard.
