The Mobile World Congress has a Belgian touch again this year. For several years, our country has had its own pavilion where companies from Flanders, Brussels and Wallonia can present themselves to the world. The Brussels start-up platform hub.brussels was also represented with its own stand at the fair this year, where we were able to get to know some up-and-coming companies from the region.

We stopped at nextAuth, a security company that emerged as a spin-off from KU Leuven. The Leuven-based company’s mission is to make the password redundant by working with biometric verification in combination with a PIN code. nextAuth can say without blushing that it has jumped on the right train, because big names from the tech industry such as Apple, Google and Microsoft are also taking part in the fight against the password.

“We offer an enabling technology that makes it easier for companies to integrate passwordless login methods into their own applications,” says CTO and co-founder Roel Peeters to our on-site reporter. Peeters makes an important comment: “Our technology is not a SaaS solution: we make the components available to customers to run them themselves in their own IT environment.”

Passwordless login is the future

nextAuth can already count the KU Leuven and SDWorx among its customers. The company went to Mobile World Congress to increase its visibility and spread the word. “We’re finding that people visiting our booth are really looking for mobile authentication solutions,” notes Peeters.

Are you struggling with passwords too? Thanks to companies like nextAuth, passwords could be a thing of the past faster than you think.
