Apple invests one billion euros in its European chip design center in Munich. It’s the second time since 2021.
The chip center is Apple’s largest development site in Europe and focuses on three topics: 5G wireless technology, energy-saving solutions for chips and solutions for analog parts and mixed signals. The expansion in Munich should give Apple more opportunities to break away from the chip manufacturer Qualcomm, which now produces the radio chips for 5G.
Around 2,000 people work for Apple in Munich. CEO Tim Cook visited the factory during Oktoberfest last year.
