Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP) has published the results of a survey that lists the favorite colors of iPhone users. The report shows which iPhone colors are the most popular among the iPhone 14, iPhone 13, iPhone 12, and iPhone SE product lines.

Throughout November, December, and January, CIRP asked iPhone owners in the US what their favorite color was. White and black/gray are generally expected to be user favorites, and for the most part this has proven to be true, with the exception of one color for the iPhone 14.

Favorite colors of iPhone users

According to data compiled by CIRP, iPhone users tend to choose grey/black. However, about 42% of iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max owners chose Deep Purple, and another 24% chose gold. This means that among the top iPhone models, 66% of owners chose the brightest available colors.

Meanwhile, for the iPhone 14/Plus, 27% of owners chose blue, 22% purple, and 14% red. Once again, brighter models attracted the attention of users: 63% of owners chose more colorful models. The rest of the people chose the colors Midnight or Starlight (black and off-white). CIRP notes that iPhone 14 owners were surprised to opt for brighter colors. This is due to the fact that other models are dominated by traditional colors.

Models S3 and iPhone 12 have the highest rates of owners of the basic color versions of the device. In SE smartphones, 62% of users are gray, while in the iPhone 12 line this figure is 56%. Already in the iPhone 13 models, we have a more even separation between primary and colorful colors. Base models account for 52%, while red, blue and pink account for 48% of sales.

In the presented data, we can see another very interesting detail. It seems that in general, users do not really like the white-silver color. In fact, of all the models it’s available in, it’s had the fewest sales, with the exception of the iPhone 13, where it outperformed red. Unfortunately, the survey does not report the number of users who participated in the data collection, nevertheless, the results are very interesting.
