Lenovo is presenting new computing power solutions at the MWC. This comes in the form of a physical device, although the computer manufacturer also takes the opportunity to highlight new software.
At the MWC in Barcelona, Lenovo is showing new solutions for the edge. The ThinkEdge SE10 is a new computer specifically designed to process data far from servers and data centers. Lenovo builds the rugged thing around an Intel Atom processor, so don’t expect a powerhouse.
The main task of the SE10 is the processing of relatively simple digital and analog readings. Think of data about temperature, lighting or humidity. Lenovo notes that converting analog data to digital telemetry is a specific feature of the ThinkEdge SE10. The ThinkEdge SE10-i is actually the same device but specifically designed for industrial environments where the thing needs to be even more robust.
On the software side, Lenovo is providing an update for its Lenovo Open Cloud Automation (LOC-A) software. Version 2.6 is intended, among other things, to simplify edge deployments at multiple locations through rapid provisioning. Lenovo also shows its Xclarity management software. It is designed to simplify orchestration and maintenance.
Lenovo also notes that the Edge offering is also available within its Lenovo TruScale service consumption model.
