State Tennessee became the first US territory ban V drag queen show in public and in places where minors can see them.
Tennessee Republican Gov. Bill Lee sanctioned a bill approved hours earlier by the State Senate that “restricts adult cabaret shows.”
The standard defines “adult cabaret performance” as performances involving gogo dancers, topless dancers, “strippers” and “male or female impersonators who entertain with obscene interest”.
Violators of the regime are threatened $2,500 fine and up to one year in prison.
This regulation, which It will enter into force on July 1.is the first of dozens of such bills introduced by Republican legislators in various states across the country to become law.
Republicans argue that drag performances expose minors to sexual acts and images that do not suit them.

In parallel, Lee signed another norm related to the previous one, which will prevent To minors have access to gender-confirming medication or surgeryas states like Florida or Alabama already do.
Minors who are currently on such treatment must receive it by March 21, 2024, after the law goes into effect on July 31.
Under Lee’s signature, Tennessee became the eighth state to pass such an ordinance, and the fourth this year.
On Wednesday, Mississippi Governor, also Republican Tate Reeves, signed a law vetoing minors’ access to gender-validating procedures.
In a statement, the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) this Thursday pointed out that the “dangerous practice” of banning LGTBQ+ events, spaces and culture, which includes “drag and drop” of speeches, is part of a “large-scale attack” against the collective and this is an attempt to drive their members back into the closet.
According to the organization, last year alone, state congressional legislators across the country introduced 315 “discriminatory” anti-LGTBIQ+ bills, of which 29 were approved and became law.
Most of these drafts -149- were aimed “transgender and non-binary community”, except for the young.
HRC added that in the first two months of 2023, 340 anti-LGBTIQ+ state legislative proposals were submitted, of which 150 would restrict the rights of transgender people, the most anti-“transgender” initiatives in a single year. And it’s not over yet. (EFE)
