This Friday (3) CounterPoint Research released an analysis of the materials used in the production of Google Pixel Clockshowing that the cost of smart watch raw materials is approximately 123 US dollars (about 639 reais) for Google. It’s worth noting that this value refers to the LTE variant of the watch, which is sold in the US for $399 (about R$2,075).

According to CounterPoint’s analysis, the largest share of the Pixel Watch’s manufacturing costs is in the processing components, which account for about 27% of the total cost. Among these components, the Exynos 9110 chipset provided by Samsung is accompanied by NXP’s MIMXRT595S co-processor, in addition to 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage provided by Kingstone.
The analysis also shows that the BoE-supplied Pixel Watch display and its custom-made Corning glass cover are next on the list, accounting for more than 17% of the total cost. Hull and waterproofing consume another 14.7%, while sensors account for 8.3% of the cost, and battery and charging components account for just over 6%.
Notably, the watch’s cellular components only account for about 5% of the total cost of materials, indicating that a Wi-Fi-only model isn’t necessarily cheaper for Google to manufacture.
According to the analysis, the difference between the production cost of the Pixel Watch and its retail price is negligible. The company notes that the price of the Pixel Watch represents a big step up from previous Fitbit smartwatches. Although manufacturing costs for the Fitbit Sense or Versa models were not disclosed, they retail for $299 and $229, respectively.
CounterPoint Research also previously released a material analysis of the OnePlus Watch, listing a cost of $68, while the retail price of the wearable is $159. In this sense, the difference between the cost of materials and the retail price is largely due to marketing. and R&D costs.
