Samsung is trying to break into the foldable cell phone market by promising a new scale for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 model. According to The Elec, the company is testing its next smartphone’s hinge to support up to 200,000 folds to ensure your audience can use it. The “limit” of the test will be an attempt to reset it 300,000 times, however 85% of the tests will have the first target and will be passed without reaching the highest number.

This is considered the final test of the product, the characteristics and details of which should soon be revealed to all media. The leaked information reveals that the hinge, codenamed “water drop” will have a diameter of just 14mm. Comparatively, the previous model is 15.8mm, and other rumors also claim that this information is consistent with what they presented inside. This will help the cell phone have no space when closed, as well as no noticeable separation between the screens.

Since the launch is scheduled for the second quarter of 2023, we still do not have a specific launch date for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5.

Samsung left behind

While Samsung is pioneering the foldable cell phone market with this new generation, the number of times the Z Fold 5 can fold comes as a big disappointment to enthusiasts who were expecting a more robust addition to other competitors.

Oppo, for example, made twice as much for the Find N2 and Find N2 Flip models as Samsung suggests in these tests. Both provide a massive amount of up to 400,000 folds on their devices. The problem with falling behind in this competition is that it creates an even bigger gap between it and the rest of the competition, scattering fans to brands that are bridging that gap in technology.

So far, Samsung has not confirmed or denied the information, so everything can change before the official announcement of the characteristics of the smartphone.
