Nvidia confirms the bug and is working on a hotfix or driver update to fix the problem quickly.
The latest Nvidia driver, version 531.18, significantly increases CPU utilization by ten to fifteen percent. The error mainly occurs after loading a 3D application, after which the Nvidia telemetry plugin hits Tilt (NvGSTPlugin.dll). The problem does not occur on every system. Our test system continues to work normally after a test without additional CPU consumption. Analyze Windows Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) to see if you have any problems.
That doesn’t change the fact that Nvidia recognized the problem and was able to reproduce it. A quick hotfix is being worked on or the update will be included in a new driver version.
Some Reddit users were able to fix the error themselves by manually removing the telemetry plugin. Those who have serious problems can do this themselves, but keep in mind that the side effects are not clear.
It is not yet clear when the hotfix or the new driver update will be available. You can always revert to a previous driver version in an emergency, but chances are you won’t have to wait more than a few days. It’s up to you to decide, should you suffer from the bug, what you choose to do.
