Windows Insider Program – New Canary Channel and Dev Channel Changes

Microsoft indicates that the builds of Windows offered to those who choose the Canary channel will be available as soon as they are ready, which basically means that they will not be subjected to much internal testing and therefore should be much more unstable than builds offered through other channels. Microsoft will only post new build availability announcements on this channel when they add new features or functionality.

Microsoft states that in some cases, not all features and functionality tested through the Dev channel will make it to new versions of Windows. Windows Insiders who are currently in the Dev channel will be automatically moved to the Canary channel.

Windows Insiders should take advantage of this transition to decide which channels they will stay on. For those who are currently on the beta channel and want to test out new Windows features and functionality, Microsoft recommends switching to the developer channel.

Important detail: it will be impossible switch to a channel with builds with lower numbers than the current one. In this case you will need to do a clean install and select the desired channel. That is, those who were automatically promoted to the Canary channel will have to perform a clean install of Windows 11 and select the Dev channel.
