The State Special Communications and Information Protection Service talked about how companies, especially the media, can protect themselves from cyber attacks.
This was reported by the press service of the ministry in response to the request of Ukrinform.
“To mitigate risks, we recommend that all companies, and especially members of the media community, conduct ongoing cybersecurity audits of their systems to identify potential gaps in protection in a timely manner and to identify steps to address them. Build a strong team: Without professionals to deal with cybersecurity issues, satisfaction is lacking. It will be difficult to maintain a satisfactory level of cyber resilience. One of the indispensable conditions for increasing the level of security is the training of employees, because according to statistics, 9 out of every 10 cyber attacks are caused precisely by the carelessness, carelessness or ignorance of the personnel.
At the same time, the ministry noted that in the second half of last year, State Special Communications specialists faced more than a dozen serious cyberattacks on the media, often with the aim of deleting data. It is emphasized that in the conditions of cyber warfare, the option of wrong action is to hope that cybercriminals will distract certain companies.
Therefore, communicators advise not to neglect standard methods of protection: to set complex passwords with different letters and special symbols. At the same time, you should not store passwords in accessible places. It is also recommended to use two-factor authentication for all services with such a function.
“The approaches to protecting one’s own accounts in various social networks have a lot in common. The main task is to prevent attackers from accessing the account. For this, you should not ignore the protection systems in the applications and take care of yourself.”
Government Private Communications emphasizes that company directors and each citizen are directly responsible for the sources of information they own or use.
“If you notice unusual activity in your own network or suspect your resources have been hacked, you should immediately contact the experts. Our Ukrainian Government Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-UA) is also ready to provide assistance at your request.”
As the Mass Information Institute reported, 42 cyberattacks were carried out on the media during the 11 months of the war.
In the latest report of Dezhspetsvyaz, it is stated that instead of attacking target organizations with the help of a fabrication, Russian hackers have started to shift their focus to exploiting technical vulnerabilities of organizations that provide services to critical information infrastructure operators, especially developers. and Internet providers.
